Who:The City of Steamboat Springs has partnered with consultants Cushing Terrell and Connect One Design to engage the Steamboat Springs community in completing a Steamboat Springs Mountain Area Master Plan (MAMP).
What: The purpose of this project is to develop a community vision for the future of the Mountain Area and to complete a plan to guide policy, development, and public/private investment toward achieving the vision.
Where: The planning area is the Steamboat Ski Resort base area and the commercial properties and residential neighborhoods that surround it. See the banner map above.
When: January 2020 - July 2021
Why:The last master plan for the Mountain Area was adopted in 2005. Steamboat Springs has experienced significant change in the last 15 years in terms of economy, technology, population, climate, and more. However, we have not seen the investment and redevelopment anticipated in the Mountain Area. It’s time to update our vision for this core commercial area to better reflect current conditions, trends, and community priorities.
This plan is focused on improving character and identity, economic vitality, and mobility and connectivity in the Mountain Area. The project team is also developing conceptual site designs to improve the Gondola Transit Center and Ski Time Square Drive. Visitor experience, sustainability, and resiliency are guiding principles as we plan for the long-term vitality and success of the Mountain Area.
