Consultation has concluded
On November 1, 2022, Steamboat Springs City Council adopted the Mountain Area Master Plan. The adopted plan is part of the City’s long-range community planning framework under the overarching community Comprehensive Plan, the Steamboat Springs Area Community Plan.
The project team that led the effort create a new plan for the Mountain Area relied on feedback and guidance from the public, an Advisory Committee comprised of key Mountain Area stakeholders, the City’s Planning Commission, the Urban Redevelopment Authority Advisory Committee, and City Council throughout the process to develop the plan.
The Mountain Area Master Plan identifies a series of illustrative design concepts for major capital projects intended to help achieve the community’s vision for enhancing identity, mobility, and economic vitality in the Mountain Area. The adopted plan also looks beyond major capital improvements and points to other, smaller-scale improvements as well as potential adjustments or processes to examine, existing codes, policies, and standards. Each of the ideas highlighted will require additional community dialogue and feedback as project-level details are developed – in other words, more opportunities to shape what happens next in the Mountain Area are on the horizon

Each plan element in the Mountain Area Master Plan (Economic Vitality, Identity, and Access + Mobility) identifies primary objectives for the Mountain Area Master Plan. The objectives outline key strategies for how to address the constraints and opportunities identified.

Implementing the Mountain Area Master Plan will take many forms, what feedback do you have on the primary implementation activities outlined in the draft Plan?
These "next steps" are generally described in the plan as “Big Moves” – major capital projects OR other improvements and projects, including additional studies and other initiatives pursued by the City of Steamboat Springs or other planning partners.
What are your thoughts on the Short- and Long-Term “Big Moves” (i.e. Ski Time Square Improvements, Gondola Transit Center Redevelopment, etc.)?

The MAMP Advisory Committee guided the project team from project initiation. The Advisory Committee provided feedback at each major milestone in process to develop the plan, including establishing guiding principles, reviewing community survey results, and shaping implementation strategies.
