STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-February 14, 2022-The City of Steamboat Springs is excited to announce the launch of a new online application system for special event permitting. Producers looking to host an event in Steamboat Springs will now be able to submit their applications online via one streamlined process to the city.

This new software comes out of a lengthy conversation around special events and best practices and procedures. The platform, along with several other revisions to the permitting process, will assist the city in better managing venue capacities, conditions of approval, and community impacts especially during peak winter and summer months.

“We have been working to improve and enhance the event permitting process for many years, and we are thrilled to finally launch the new online software to aid in this process” said Rachel Lundy, the city’s Special Events Coordinator. “This system will help expedite and streamline event permitting and save both event producers and city staff a significant amount of time moving forward.”

The City of Steamboat Springs has spent over 5 years reviewing and revising the event application and permitting process. Implementation of the new OpenGov special event software system was the final step in the process, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cloud based system easily collects all the necessary data and documents required for an event, and the automated and transparent workflow provides a much improved and efficient process for both event producers and city staff. The new software also provides robust reporting capabilities and allows event producers to pay any required fee directly online.

Additional information on the platform as well as applying for an application can be done through the city’s website at steamboatsprings.net/specialevents.
